Pulteney Bridge from the 18th century

Parade Gardens

The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul is an Anglican parish church and was built between 1499 and 1616.

Roman Bath- the water bubbles up through the ground and the geothermal energy raises the temperature from 64- 96 degrees Celsius.
The first shrine at the site of the hot springs was built by Celts and was dedicated to the goddess Sulis, whom the Romans identified with Minerva.
The spring is said to have cured a British King, Bladud and his herd of pigs of leprosy by sitting in the warm mud.

Great Bath

Sacred Spring

Artifacts from the museum were found in the sacred spring and believed to have been thrown there as offerings to the goddess.

The tour we took to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and the City of Bath was a lot of fun. Of course what I remember is eating lunch at the pub out in the country and having the Yorkshire pudding. The problem was that the gravy was extremely HOT and I didn't realize it until it hit the inside of my mouth!! And the water they had on the table was a yellowish color! The only other option I had was HOT tea so the water was it! The water had quite the mineral taste to it!

London was a lot of fun. The other thing I remember is you and I going out one afternoon to find a coffee shop while Chris was napping.

I look forward to going back someday to Europe. Chris and I were glad you could join us. You have a lot of knowledge of the areas we visited which made the trip that much more fun!
