Christmas in Targu Jiu

This is the Christmas Tree and ornaments that mom sent me. I love it!! Most of you know it will stay up all year long too!! At least it isnt real, like in Kalamazoo......so no fire hazard!!

Cute ornaments!! Everyone also keeps asking where I found the candy canes too. So nice touch mom.

These are lights of the famous sculptures in town by Constantin Brincuşi. The Endless Column (Coloana fără Sfirşit), The Gate of the Kiss (Poarta Sărutului), and The Table of Silence (Masa Tăcerii).

Okay so another weird thing about Romania. They like to chop down the most pathetic looking trees they can find. Usually they have a lot of bald spots and are sparce with the branches. Then they hang lights and random ornaments and objects all over it. Most of the trees look really tacky.

La Mulţi ani is what they say for everything and I do mean everything!! When it is Xmas, New Years, a birthday, or saint (name) day and any other holiday you can think of.
