Baia de Fier

If you want to check out some more pictures from a project I did, you can go to my orgnization's website. www.atdr.ro, click on Galerie Foto, Then Training Outdoor, Pestera Muierii, Gorj 13-14.09.2006. It was a nice project. I helped my Counterpart, Marian lead it and we took about 15 people to Baia de Fier, which is a nice mountain town in my county. We collected garbage for the morning then made like 100 small sandwiches and toured the cave. The mayor let our group into the cave for free so it was nice. The cave is called "Pestera Muierii" which means Women's cave. It got this name from a war where the women and children went into the cave to hide. It remains 10 degrees all year round and is huge. It was a great project. I got to play with a sheep herder and his sheep!! He held them down for me to pet. It was hilarious!! Then we saw some creepy old man who thought WE were crazy. Marian had a nice and funny conversation with him. I also played with the cows, of course!! When do I not? As you can see I kept my rubber gloves on this time. The cow loved me scratching its head but got mad when I tried to stick my glove up its nose. It was great. The guy behind me in the cow picture is holding up a dirty thong he found and carried around for a while. We also stood next to huge puddles and caught baby frogs. It was a fun and interesting day.
