Muşeteşti
I went to Muşeteşti last week with Milena, a volunteer from Maccedonia. We had to go look at the school and meet the students. The village will be one of her volunteer points in The Euro House Network that I am now in charge of. It is a cute village and the people were really friendly. We got to sit in on an english class for 7th grade. The teacher's english was not great but she is able to teach 3rd year english...I guess. She is only 23 and went to school for 2 years to be able to teach english. The boys were horrible and didn't listen to anyone. I am so glad I am not a teacher. I would yell too much. The girls were really sweet and excited to have us there. We thought the director of the school was our boss's dad but there is a new lady this year. We were asking the dad all of our questions and I guess she got mad and started being really bitchy to us. I was later told that she is sleeping with the head of the political party that won the village and that is how she got her job. Figures. Everyone also still refers to the old director when they need things and this frustrates her. It really sucks how your job can be taken away just because you don't want to change political parties. This shows how corrupt this country is!! I can't stand it but it is not my place to change or speak out about. We also got to go into the gym, which my boss got funding for to rebuild. It was quite sad that the kids hardly have any equipment to use. They were outside playing handball with a deflated basketball. The gym also smelled of mold.
Anyways I got some really great traditional romanian fotos. The cemetary was really pretty and cared for. The church was right across the street and the radiator bridge is also next to the church. The village is only about a mile long. They must be fans here of radiator bridges. Behind the school there was about 50 of them stacked up waiting to be used for such projects.
