Sibiu

Sibiu is also called Hermanstadt because there is a large German population.

Normal Playground in Romania.

The Romanian Flag is painted on everything!!! All fence posts everywhere, in cities, villages, playgrounds.

Street where I learned to ride a bike with a sticker that says Why do I love Bucurest?

Traditional festival a few summers ago.

Winter view.

Normal view driving through the villages. The cows all get picked up in the morning by the Cioban (shepard) and taken to a pasture. Then they all go home at the same time everyday. They are actually very smart and know where their yard is to return to. A lot of the older people wait at the gate for them to come home at night like waiting for little kids after school. Its cute. They are very slow and lazy and could care less about car horns. Some cars bump their way through a herd slowly. You can stick your hand out the window to pet them. The Romanians get very disgusted by me touching all the animals.

There are also donut shops called American Donuts. They really are not.

German style rooftops. The "Eyes" looking at you.

Church rooftop.

This is from a famous cemetery in the part of Romania called Maramures. All the grave heads are painted with what the person did for a living. This guy looks like he had a bit too much fun with sheep.

This is our Close-of-Service picture. Most volunteers that came in my group are done and will leave in a month. I on the other hand will remain here along with 8 other people for at least another year. I know I am crazy...but happy.
I am on the very left in the second row with my eyes closed and my Romanian hairstyle. We started out with 74 and lost 12 over the past 2 years.
